  • 1.25 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 0.25 cups shortening
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons water (cold)
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples peeled, cored, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.25 cups cinnamon-sugar mixture
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 0.25 cups caramel sauce

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare pie dough: Mix flour and salt, cut in shortening and cold butter until crumbly, then add cold water until dough forms. Divide into two, roll out one on floured surface, refrigerate the other.
  3. Cut rolled dough into triangles, arrange on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Brush triangles with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, flip, then bake another 5 minutes until crispy and golden.
  6. Meanwhile, prepare apple topping: Toss peeled and chopped apples with lemon juice and cinnamon-sugar. In a pan, melt butter, add apples, and cook until soft, about 5-10 minutes.
  7. To assemble, place baked chips on a serving plate, top with warm apple filling, whipped cream, and drizzle with caramel sauce.
