Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together sugar and butter until creamy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually blend in dry ingredients alternately with milk. Fold in sliced apples.
- Pour batter into prepared cake pan.
- For the streusel topping, mix 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 55 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
