  • 0.75 cups cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh ginger or 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 5.5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 0.5 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 0.5 cups fresh orange juice
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 dried red chilis optional
  • sliced green onions for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Toss chicken and cornstarch in a large bowl until fully coated.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk ginger, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and orange juice until combined.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Fry chicken for 2-3 minutes until crispy and golden.
  4. Pour sauce into the pan, add dried chilis if using, and stir until chicken is coated. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve warm.
